REPORT: Clashes renew in Ain el-Helweh refugee camp

Clashes renewed on Monday after a short cautious calm prevailed in the Ain el Helweh refugee camp in the southern region of Sidon with contacts ongoing to return the camp to its normal state.

The camp witnessed a tensed night in which clashes continued with occasional bursts of machine guns and missiles.

Meanwhile, public and private schools closed their doors in Sidon and its surrounding due to the security situation.

The political Leaders of the camp's are scheduled to hold a meeting later in the day to come out with a unified position over what is happening in the camp, while the Secretary of the Fatah movement Fathi Abou al-Ardat assured that "ending the phenomenon of Bilal Badr is still a goal."
