Rai hails passing of new vote law at Parliament

Maronite patriarch Bechara Rai hailed on Saturday the passing of the new vote law at the Parliament.

“The new vote law spared the country the dangers of a new political crisis which would have dangerous repercussions on all country’s sectors,” Rai added.

He also called on the political authorities to practice democracy while dealing with the Lebanese people.

The Lebanese parliament passed on Friday a new electoral law during a legislative session held under the chairmanship of Speaker Nabih Berri and in the presence of Prime Minister Saad Hariri, coinciding with a sit-in staged by civil society groups in Riad al-Solh Square against “a third term extension.”
