Temperatures in the Iraqi city of Mosul have surpassed 40 degrees Celsius as summer approaches, adding another severe survival challenge to the residents still trapped in the city and to those living in refugee camps in the war-torn region.
As refugees continue flocking in, a new refugee camp with more than 1,500 tents was added to the district of Khazer last month. However, due to a lack of proper infrastructure, life in the camp is not easy.
Although those living in the camp have escaped from the clutches of the extremist group, they still suffer amid the extreme summer heat since there are no cooling devices in the tents. Many choose to sleep outside the tents at night.
