Islamist lawmakers walk out of Algeria's chamber, disrupting 1st session
Islamist lawmakers walked out of Algeria’s chamber on Saturday, disrupting the first session of Algeria's new parliament.

The 49 members of Green Algeria Alliance staged their protest immediately after the roll-call of newly-elected deputies.

In a statement condemning “a return to the era of single party rule”, the AVV said: “We decided to withdraw from the first session of the National Assembly and protest officially against the results of the ballot.”
