Five days after the breakout of the 2014 Arsal events, the cabinet summoned then Lebanese Armed Forces Commander Jean Kahwaji and listened to the army’s approach of the battle and its intervention to settle it.
Ten months after said events, the cabinet issued a decision assigning the army to protect and defend the town of Arsal.
Some believed the decision came late after the cabinet prevented the army from interfering to liberate Arsal and the abducted soldiers.
Former Minister Rachid Derbas affirmed the unanimity over the decision to grant permission to the army to settle the battle.
Regardless of this opinion or the other, only the official records kept by the secretariat of the cabinet hold all the truth. Will they be revealed for the purpose of any investigation to determine the responsibilities?
