President Michel Aoun said Tuesday that “our position on the recent crisis stems from an inability to accept that any authority in the world could tamper with our dignity.”
"Lebanon's position was a sort of confrontation to what happened with the prime minister,” he explained, adding that the unity of the Lebanese remains the basis for protecting stability in the country.
At the beginning of the cabinet session, Aoun presented, in detail, the stages of the crisis that arose upon the announcement of resignation of Prime Minister Saad Hariri from abroad, explaining the positions he took and the contacts he made, whether internally or with the diplomatic corps abroad.
He also pointed out that "the main concern was to absorb the situation at home and secure the return of PM Hariri, to find out the circumstances that accompanied his position."
