REPORT: Berri says Lebanon is fighting money laundering and terrorist funding
Speaker Nabih Berri said on Tuesday that Lebanon is fighting money laundering and terrorist funding.
Berri’s comments were made during a meeting with Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing at the US Department of the Treasury Marshall in Ain-el-Tineh.

"The laws approved by the Parliament have made Lebanon a state that abides by the highest International legal standards, in terms of money transfer, and fighting money laundering and terrorist financing," Berri said.

For his part, the US official hailed the performance of the Lebanese Central Bank and all the Lebanese banks.

On another note, Berri tackled during the meeting the possibility of adopting the model adopted in several US states and European countries, in terms of legalizing cannabis in Lebanon for medical purposes.
