Farmer Mohammad Khaled al-Hjeiri released hours after his abduction in Arsal

Lebanese national Mohammad Khaled al-Hjeiri was handed over to the Lebanese Army on Wednesday after he was earlier kidnapped by Syrian forces.

Earlier in the day, Syrian forces infiltrated the Lebanese territory for 2-3 kilometers and kidnapped al-Hjeiri while working his land in Arsal’s remote area.

The Syrian forces also set fire to the summer residence of the mayor of Arsal.

In this regard, Arsal’s mayor Ali Mohammad al-Hjeiri denied, through LBCI, all accusations that Arsal’s residents are sheltering members of the Free Syrian Army in the town.

Later on Wednesday, the LAF decided to station inside the house of the town’s mayor.
