Speaker Nabih Berri received Thursday US State Secretary Rex Tillerson and the accompanying delegation in Ain al-Tineh, where they discussed the latest developments and the general situation in Lebanon and the region.
The talks tackled the assistance provided by the US to the Lebanese army, as well as the issue of the southern land and sea borders, where Berri raised the issue of the daily Israeli violations and Israel’s intention to build a concrete wall that will pass by Lebanese territories.
The speaker also informed the US official of the legislations and laws ratified by the parliament concerning the financial, monetary and banking activities in accordance with international standards.
Berri also raised the issue of the US decision to reduce its contribution to the UNRWA, mainly in Lebanon, calling on the American administration to reconsider its decision that has negative effects on Lebanon’s stability.
Concerning the situation in Syria, Berri stressed the importance of a political solution to resolve the whirlwind taking over the region.
