Charbel: Naher al-Bared incident is an accident

Interior and Municipalities Minister Marwan Charbel said on Monday that Nahr el Bared incident happened by coincidence and it was not planned for. He hoped that a quick understanding will be reached concerning this issue.

In an interview to Voice of Lebanon, Charbel noted that the appropriate measures were taken by the Lebanese Army in coordination with Palestinian committees, stressing that the Army serves all Lebanese and Palestinians.

Commenting on the security plan in the North, he explained that the Army and the security forces are unable to control the borders completely, pointing that a great number of the legal crossings has been controlled. He added that the situation is getting better, especially amid coordination between Lebanese and Syrian armies.

On the other hand, Charbel stressed that he is not concerned over security situation during Koura’s by-elections.
