EDL contract workers deny having besieged general director office
EDL contract workers denied on Monday having besieged the office of EDL’s general director Kamal Hayek.

During the meeting of the procurement committee, headed by Hayek, the workers went up to the 13th floor and besieged the office of the general director, calling for bringing the meeting to an end.

The procurement committee is charged with settling the subsequent qualification offers to lure offers regarding the presentation and assignment of the “remote meter reading system”, as well as the supply and installation of billing and administration system.

The security forces intervened immediately and clashed with the workers who tried to close the building’s main gate.

The EDL later issued a statement in which it said that the sit-in has gone beyond its logistical framework to undermine a vital public facility in a way that prevents the company from providing the citizens with essential services.
