President Michel Aoun inaugurated the cabinet session by raising the issue of the electricity, noting that he had presented the cabinet with the study about the deficit caused by the electricity crisis and asked for practical solutions and suggestions, but has not received any so far.
Addressing the ministers, he asked: “Is there anyone who does not want electricity?” stressing that he is not promoting any idea but only wants to provide the people with power supply.
“The proposal of the power ships was presented before and we heard many reactions; however, no one said that Lebanon is forced to rent these ships, but on the other hand, no one presented an alternative source,” he stated, adding that “he has to be honest with the Lebanese people regarding this truth since he already vowed to say nothing but the truth.”
“All the earlier debate has not led to any solution, I want to provide the people with electricity and I do not care from where you bring it,” he added.
The president also tackled the parliamentary election, hoping that all the preparations will be done in time to hold the vote according to the law. He also hoped that awareness campaigns will be done so that the citizens will be enlightened to everything related to the polls.
Aoun urged the ministers to take care of all the pending and urgent issues that serve the citizens without any political and electoral preferences, before taking on their caretaking duties following the legislative elections
