The decision issued by the Constitutional Council to suspend the Article 49 of the state budget, following an appeal filed by MP Samy Gemayel who collected the signatures of 10 deputies, turned into a substance for debate between MP Ibrahim Kanaan and Gemayel.
Gemayel considered the decision as a victory, saying that “the pulse of the people is way stronger.”
He also said that “with a small number of deputies, we are able to protect Lebanon and restore regulation to the constitutional practice and public finance.”
However, Kanaan said that “collecting votes under the illusion of Article 49 is low.”
“The circus has reached the Constitutional Council,” Kanaan stated, adding that “some are resorting to Don Quixote battles to win few votes in the elections.”
