Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil stressed Monday that turnout in the expatriates’ elections indicate that the Lebanese expatriates were enthusiastic to participate, adding that the Foreign Ministry managed to hold the elections in 40 states with a cost of USD 1.5 million.
In a press conference, Bassil noted that Lebanon has achieved a victory for all the Lebanese expatriates, pointing out that the complaints that were filed reached all political movements, including the Free Patriotic Movement.
On the turnout rates, Bassil said that overall, the turnout in all foreign countries reached 59%, Australia 58%, Europe 60%, Africa 68%, Latin America 45%, USA 55% and Arab states 69%.
