The parliamentary consultations to name the new prime minister kicked off Thursday at Baabda palace with a meeting between President Michel Aoun and former PM Saad Hariri, who said that he will leave the nomination for the Future bloc to make.
Following his meeting with Hariri, Aoun received former PM Najib Mikati, who declared the nomination of the Hariri to form a new cabinet, in light of the national requirements and challenges facing the country and the region.
Aoun also met with former PM Tammam Salam, who said following the meeting: “We are before a new stage and I hope that it will be a promising stage with a promising man who is Saad Hariri.”
Salam also stressed that he is an independent MP, allied with the Future bloc.
In turn, deputy Speaker Elie Ferzli announced from Baabda the nomination of Saad Hariri to form a new government.
