Sleiman to security chiefs: Determination in controlling security

The cabinet summoned on Wednesday Army Commander General Jean Qahwaji, Internal Security Forces Director-General Ashraf Rifi, director-general of the General Security Major General Abbas Ibrahim, State Security Chief George Qaraa, General Prosecutor Judge Said Mirza to attend its ongoing session, following the latest incidents.

Sleiman told heads of security apparatuses, that they enjoy political protection in their endeavor from him personally, the Council of Ministers and national dialogue body that includes all sides.

Sleiman reiterated three consecutive times that Airport Road should no longer be blocked.

The cabinet had convened on Wednesday afternoon at Baabda Palace, headed by President Michel Sleiman. The session is expected to tackle 74 items as well as other emergency items.

President Sleiman kicked off Wednesday's session by briefing the ministers on the results of the national dialogue committee’s meeting and his trip to Bahrain, reviewing the latest security developments.

Prior to the cabinet session, Sleiman met with Prime Minister Najib Mikati at Baabda Palace to discuss the general situation and the latest developments.
