President Michel Aoun called on the United Nations to provide Lebanon with the required assistance to complete the demarcation process of the southern maritime and land borders, all the wat to the occupied Shebaa farms, Kfarchouba Hills.
During his meeting with the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Pernille Dahler Kardel prior to her departure to New York, Aoun reiterated Lebanon's demand to renew the UNIFIL mandate, without making any change to the peacekeepers' number, mission or budget, as a part of their role in implementing the UN resolution 1701, despite the continuous Israeli violations of the Lebanese land, sea and air sovereignty, and thus the international resolutions.
Regarding the economic situation, Aoun explained to Kardel the guidelines of Lebanon's national economy plan, maintaining that it respects the recommendations of CEDRE conference.
The president renewed calls upon the UN to help facilitate the return of Syrian refugees to the safe areas in Syria, especially after the Syrian officials declared their willingness to provide the returning Syrians with the needed protection, food and shelter.
