REPORT: Lebanon marks army’s 73rd anniversary

Lebanese officials gathered on Wednesday morning in Fiyadie to mark the Lebanese Army’s 73rd anniversary.

President Michel Aoun called the graduating class of officers “Fajr al-Jouroud,” in reference to the Lebanese army’s operation against terrorists last year on Lebanon’s northeaster border.

Then Caretaker Ministers of Interior and Defense, Nouhad Machnouq and Yaacoub al-Sarraf read the promotion of the officers.

This as President Aoun delivered a speech at the ceremony whereby he said that recent events proved that the army remains “the most stable reference in times of crisis,” pointing out that in times of war “it preserves borders, protects the country’s territories and our dignity and in time of peace the army preserves the country’s security and stability.”
