Salim Aoun denies through LBCI Al-Liwaa’s claim that he visited Damascus

Former MP Salim Aoun denied the information reported by Al-Liwaa Daily on Monday that he recently visited Damascus, coming back with a message to General Michel Aoun, urging him to soften the tension with Hezbollah and House Speaker Nabih Berri.

Al-Liwaa had quoted well-informed sources as saying that contacts are ongoing between Aoun and Hezbollah in order for the latter to play the role of mediator between Aoun and Berri in order to reach a solution to the issue of the Electricité du Liban (EDL) contract workers. The sources had said that former MP Salim Aoun visited Damascus and came back with a message to Aoun, “since the government is still a necessity, and threatening or ousting it is forbidden”.
