In several regions, the owners of generators have not yet taken action to install meters in application of the decision issued by the Economy Ministry.
In this case, and according to the instructions of the ministry, the citizen can demand the generator owner to install a meter or contact the ministry through the number 1739, or through the application “Consumer Protection Lebanon,” or through the ministry’s website.
As for paying insurance for the meter in advance, the ministry stresses that it is not mandatory but depends on the relation between the subscriber and the generator owner.
In case the generator owner has doubts over the subscriber commitment to pay at the end of the month, he can impose a guarantee fee that does not exceed 100,000 L.L for 5 amperes, adding 75,000 L.L. for each additional package of 5 amperes.
