LBCI camera tours Wadi Khaled amid army deployment

LBCI’s camera toured the streets of Wadi Khaled where the LAF shyly deployed after taking up positions in the border town of al-Hiche.

The majority of residents welcomed the army deployment as a means to control the border and deter Syrian infiltrations.

The Lebanese Armed Forces began taking up new positions north of the country along the borderline in accordance to the plan reached by Cabinet earlier, the Army Command said in a statement on Friday.     

The command stressed that the army has strict instructions to curb infiltrations and respond promptly to sources of fire.       

The deployment, according to the statement, started from Tripoli city and its outskirts all the way to its northern and eastern borders.   This deployment will be complete in the few days as fresh units join the existing military forces that are already stationed in some of these areas.    

"All of these forces have accurate and firm instructions to deal in a decisive manner with any security breaches and armed displays in line to prevent arm smuggling along the Lebanese-Syrian border," the statement added.     

The army command called on all citizens of the north to cooperate with the armed forces for their safety and security and to abort any attempt to destabilize the country.
