Lebanese Forces' leader Samir Geagea congratulated Wednesday the Lebanese people on the occasion of Independence Day.
In a statement, he said “this day is precious for us all but we failed to interpret it as it should,” adding that “Lebanon’s independence remains incomplete as long as the strategic military and security decision and weapons are outside the state.”
“Our independence remains meaningless as long as the citizens suffer everyday under the burden of the many living crises that hunt them,” he continued.
The LF chief also remembered all the martyrs who fell in their fight to achieve independence, including the Cedar Revolution martyrs, chief among them Martyr Pierre Gemayel, who was assassinated on this day 12 years ago.
