Legal procedure in Mimosa factory case takes course in unprecedented speed

The release of the owner of Mimosa factory Wissam al-Tannouri did not resolve the issue of al-Berdawni river pollution, but raised several question marks over the way he was released and the judiciary’s submission to the political interventions that led to al-Tannouri’s release.

However, a judicial source rejected the reports stating a fault in the legal procedure, explaining that “there was no arrest warrant issued against al-Tannouri in order for it to be a release.”

His arrest was precautionary and came within the framework of his interrogation and the judge who listened to his testimony for three hours, decided against his arrest, according to the source.
