The smuggling of goods into Lebanon through illegal crossing points, and which causes the state to lose around $600 million per year, uses trucks to transport the goods.
One smuggling operation used 18 trucks loaded with clothing, which indicates that the smugglers do not feat the state.
Several obstacles prevent the state from putting a firm end to these operations, among which several vacancies within the customs, mainly in the land division, making them unable to cover and control all the land borders.
