Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil apologized to the Lebanese people for the delay in the cabinet formation, calling for adopting rotation of the ministerial portfolios among the parties, especially the sovereign ones.
In a press conference, Bassil named the goals that the “Strong Lebanon” bloc failed to achieve in the cabinet, explaining that they were unable to secure a ministerial seat for the Christian minorities and Muslim minorities and to fix the concept of experts in the government.
The minister stressed that there was an attempt to prevent the president from intervening in the cabinet formation process and giving his opinion, emphasizing that the president is a main partner in the government.
On another note, Bassil recounted the goals that were achieved by the “Strong Lebanon” bloc in the cabinet, including achieving equal sharing in the cabinet, forming a national unity government reflecting the parliamentary representation, as well as realizing political plurality and balance between ministries.
