Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea said Thursday that he was surprised by the judicial ruling issued in the case of LBCI.
In a brief interview with MTV, Geagea said that “he read the decision while keeping in mind that Judge Fatima Jouni had good intentions, but since everyone has a political tendency, the judge’s political opinions overshadowed her decision.”
He noted that “the judge has her political bends in a certain direction and she does not recognize all that has happened in Lebanon or that a war took place in the country.”
“There are several political parties that it does not suit them for us to win the lawsuit, but I do not think that any political party interfered in the course of the case, but only the judge’s personal views,” he explained.
Also commenting on the case, he said that “in the core of the case, the judge ruled in the Lebanese Forces’ favor,” stating that they accused Pierre El Daher of bad faith since LBC is for the Lebanese Forces and they appointed El Daher as a manager but now he claims ownership over it.
“The judge confirmed this fact and that no sale has been made or any amount of money has been settled,” he added.
In his statement, Geagea went on to point out the contradictions in the verdict issued by the judge, who said that the Lebanese Forces is a militia and therefore it does not have the right for ownership, recalling that the party is now represented by 15 MPs and 4 ministers.
Answering a question on whether the ruling would have been different should the Justice Ministry were with the Lebanese Forces, Geagea said that nothing would have changed, calling on the Higher Judicial Council to take this case into consideration, given all the contradictions found in the ruling.
The LF chief said that they will appeal the verdict.
