Charities and waste of public funds in Lebanon

Lebanon is a country standing on the verge of bankruptcy and instead of putting an end to corruption and waste of public funds, the country is ready to ask for help from other states to rescue its economy.

The charity associations are one of the waste channels in the state. These charities cost the government LBP 750 billion per year.

In addition to this amount and for example, the law allows the Telecommunications Minister to offer funds to charities as sponsorships, and in this regard, sources said that former Telecommunications Minister offered around $20 million to several associations in 2018.
