Information Minister Jamal al-Jarrah declared following the meeting held by the ministerial committee tasked with discussing the electricity plan Wednesday that “a session will be held Thursday to continue the discussions,” stressing that the atmosphere was positive.
He noted that the main objective is to reduce deficit and guarantee 24/7 power supply to the Lebanese people, pointing out that the doors are open for proposals.
The minister revealed that an agreement has almost been reached over the plan presented by energy Minister Nada Boustani and the locations of the temporary and permanent power plants.
Regarding Selaata plant, al-Jarrah said that a land will be acquired by Electricite Du Liban that will be enough for the first phase of production.
He emphasized that the discussions are progressing quickly and positively, adding that the committee reached two opinions over means to manage the tenders in this regard.
