The 2019 Budget draft law attempts to set ceilings to the internal and foreign debt and to the deficit resulting from the gap between the income entering the state’s treasury and the spending.
According to the figures included in the draft law, the estimated growth in 2019 will reach 1.75%, while the public debt will constitute 152.6% of the country's GDP and the debt service is expected to reach 8312 billion Lebanese Pounds.
Also according to the draft law’s numbers, the spending is set at 23,617 billion Lebanese Pounds, while the income expected is estimated at 18,265 billion Lebanese Pounds. Therefore, the deficit will be 5352 billion Lebanese Pounds.
This deficit is expected to increase in case the funds required by Electricité Du Liban were added to the budget.
