Ahmadinejad to participate in extraordinary Islamic meeting
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will participate in the extraordinary Islamic Solidarity Meeting called for by Saudi Arabia. The meeting is set for mid-August in Mecca, the Iranian news agency IRNA quoted a presidential official as saying on Monday.

The Saudi-Iranian bilateral relations are currently shaky as Saudi Arabia openly accused Tehran of supporting the Shiite minority’s protests east of the kingdom as well as those held by the Shiite majority in Bahrain.

Saudi Arabia also accused Iran of being behind the plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the U.S. an accusation later denied by Tehran.
