Lebanese pound is and will remain stable, central bank head says
President Michel Aoun met on Thursday with Banque Du Liban Governor Riyad Salameh at the Baabda Presidential Palace.

Talks reportedly tackled the country’s monetary situation and the BDL’s work.

The Lebanese pound is stable and will remain so, Riad Salameh said following the meeting, according to the Lebanese presidency's Twitter feed.

"The Lebanese lira is stable and will remain stable and the central bank will support housing loans and (loans) for the productive sectors," Salameh said.

The Lebanese pound has been pegged against the U.S. dollar at its current level for more than two decades.
