Interior and Municipalities Minister Raya al-Hassan said during the launch of the Cybersecurity awareness campaign on Friday that "the campaign is based on a humanitarian initiative to protect the children who should be surrounded by an awareness network against cyber threats."
"The internet has changed the world, facilitated communication, and entered every home but at the same time generated new types of crime, the methods of which are developing rapidly, at technological progress speed," she said, adding that “children are the weakest and most vulnerable group in the face of cybercrime in terms of the possibility of manipulating their minds, blackmailing them and exploiting their innocence.”
The minister pointed out that "the diffusion of a culture of awareness in the society on means to protect personal information and data is one of the main factors in protecting people against these dangers."
She explained that the Lebanese government pays great attention to the subject of Cybersecurity and it has included it in its policy statement which provides for upholding the necessary measures to protect the information infrastructure.
"Cyberspace is a serious and dangerous issue," she said, stressing that they are working to secure the state administrations so that no one is exposed to any hack and so that the victim is never the country and its economy.
