With a consensus from the majority of the political blocs at the parliament, an item was cancelled from the budget draft law related to imposing a VAT tax on companies, institutions or self-employed individuals, whose business exceeds 50 million LBP per year, instead of the 100 million LBP currently in force.
This tax would have become imposed on small business owners, such as barber, carpenter or owner of a vegetable shop.
Cancelling this item came from deputies represented by their political movements in the cabinet, which had approved of this tax.
