UNIFIL spokesperson to NNA: Situation along Blue Line remains its state of calm
UNIFIL spokesperson Andrea Tenenti said on Friday that the UNIFIL insists that any activity near the Blue Line should be coordinated in advance to avoid any misunderstandings, reduce tension, prevent incidents, and maintain calm in the region.

"UNIFIL’s coordination arrangements are at the disposal of all parties at any given time," Tenenti affirmed during a phone interview with the state-run National News Agency.

He also noted that "the full freedom of UNIFIL’s movement and activity is an integral part of the effective implementation of the UNIFIL's mandate under UN Security Council Resolution No. 1701,” adding that parties must “guarantee the safety, security, and freedom of movement of UNIFIL soldiers.”

Tenenti stressed that the situation along the Blue Line and in UNIFIL’s area of operations “maintains its state of calm”.

He also confirmed that “UNIFIL's more than 10,400 peacekeepers from 43 countries continue, in coordination with the Lebanese Armed Forces, to carry out their activities of more than 450 daily activities, in monitoring the cessation of hostilities and maintaining calm.
