Morsi reassures Egyptians as gunmen kill tribal leader in Sinai
A few hours after Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi announced a series of dramatic changes in the armed forces’ chain of command and presidential prerogatives, the President reassured Egyptians from the al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo that these decisions serve the nation’s interest.

According to reports, however, Morsi did not explain if the decisions were taken following consultations with Marshall Hussain Tantawi.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian Public Prosecution banned the head of al-Faraeen Channel and the editor in chief of Al-Dustour newspaper from traveling due to reports against them on charges of insulting the president.

These political steps came amid ongoing security incidents in the Sinai Peninsula as gunmen shot dead a tribal leader and his son on their way back from a conference organized by some tribal leaders to condemn militancy.
