Bassil says they have no intention to disrupt the government

Head of the “Strong Lebanon bloc”, Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil that there is a comprehensive national plan for the waste crisis that must be approved and implemented, hoping that everyone will cooperate to put an end to this crisis.

In a press conference, Bassil said that they reviewed the waste treatment plan and they congratulated Minister Fadi Jreissati, adding that the plan is comprehensive.

“We hope for a national radical solution,” he said.

On another note, Bassil declared that the Strong Lebanon bloc is currently working on an integrated legal system to fight corruption that includes a number of draft laws pertaining to lifting bank secrecy and immunity off employees and to recover stolen public funds.

In this regard, he explained that the draft law pertaining to the recovering of stolen public funds determined a mechanism to pursue the perpetrators and recover the funds from them, stressing that putting the perpetrators to trial is not enough, but the money must also be recovered.

Commenting on the cabinet session, Bassil said that no one has an intention to disrupt the government, pointing out that they are waiting for Prime Minister Saad Hariri to call for a session.

“We have no pre-conditions and it may be better not to reveal what I know,” he concluded.
