Member of the Development and Liberation bloc MP Mohammad al-Khawaja stressed Monday that the parliament is the source of the authority and it happened before when legislation took place under a resigned cabinet, “because the cabinet derives its legitimacy from the parliament and not vice versa.”
He stressed the need for the parliament to convene on Tuesday in order to elect the parliamentary committees and to perform its legislative duties, noting that there are reform laws that interpret the demands of the people.
In a statement to LBCI’s Nharkom Said, al-Khawaja expressed surprise over “the demonization of the general amnesty law,” explaining that the Development and Liberation bloc will meet today and discuss this issue.
“The cabinet should be formed as soon as possible because the economic situation has become unbearable,” he said, explaining that they seek a change in the economic policies.
