The executive council of the Federation of Syndicates of Bank Employees issued a statement on Sunday, whereby it said that that their strike will continue tomorrow, noting that the resumption of operations depends on the outcome of the meeting with the Association of Banks scheduled to be held on Monday in terms of work mechanism.
"The suspension of the strike requires first of all an atmosphere of safety at various work stations, especially in bank branches, to be achieved by the measures undertaken by the security forces," the statement indicated. Meanwhile, the executive council commended the procedures announced by the Directorate General of Internal Security Forces to ensure the safety of employees and customers in the banking sector, considering them "adequate and sufficient." In this regard, the council expressed gratitude to caretaker Interior Minister Raya al-Hassan and ISF Director General Imad Othman, for promptly responding to the association’s request in terms of providing the necessary security and safety measures upon the resumption of work in banks.
