Al-Jarrah: Judge Ibrahim assumed role of general prosecutor, justice minister and parliament all at once

Caretaker Information Minister Jamal al-Jarrah declared that “Financial Prosecutor Judge Ali Ibrahim should have maintained the secrecy of the lawsuit but he falsely leaked it to the press saying that he charged former telecom ministers,” noting that he put himself in the place of the public prosecutor, justice minister and the parliament.

In a press conference, al-Jarrah said that “he cannot charge, but he can refer the lawsuit to the public prosecutor, who will refer it to the justice minister, who will in turn refer it to the parliament, where a decision is made regarding the case.”

“He is a judge and knows very well that an accused is innocent until proven guilty,” he said, adding that Judge Ibrahim did not even charge him.

“When I was telecom minister, I went to see Judge Ibrahim and his son was present at the session. How did he allow this? Under which law?” he said.

Addressing Judge Ibrahim, he said that he has always been under the law, stressing that he is responsible for all the work done when he was minister of telecommunications and minister of information.
