Netanyahu participates in person in Israeli drills in Golan Heights

The Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu chose the Syrian occupied Golan Heights to escalate his threats regarding the war, after his efforts failed to convince the United States in drawing red lines to limit the Iranian nuclear programs.          

Netanyahu supervised in person the drills conducted by the Golani Unit on the possibility of a war where the Army would occupy Syrian and Lebanese towns. The Israeli PM’s participation is not only considered as a show of force to impress Lebanon and Syria, but also Iran which is undermining Israel’s threats.                     

In this context, Deputy Chief of Staff Major General Yair Naveh stressed the importance of the military exercises, saying that there is a risk that a regional war takes place. He noted that the northern borders are the most dangerous.                   

These military exercises come at a time the Israeli officials discuss the dimensions of the deterioration of the situation in Syria, and the possibility that targeting Iran would lead to a regional war.
