Ehud Olmert to come back to Israel's political scene

The "Euphoria of victory" experienced by former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert after getting light sentence in corruption case without  a stigma, turned into an unveiled concern experienced by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who acknowledges that a light sentence allows Olmert to take back his political life.          

It is expected that Olmert's return would threaten Netanyahu's position and would strike the Israeli political scene.               

Contrary to the indictment which exposed Olmert as a corrupt and a traitor, the verdict indicated that he has been a target for a political plot set by the Israeli right wing, in an attempt to oust him from the presidency after he has reached advanced stages in the negotiations of peace with Palestine.             

In the absence of a strong opposition against Netanyahu's government, Olmert's comeback led a group from Kadima party to support the idea of nominating him for the party's presidency to be a strong candidate against Netanyahu.               

The latest developments urged Netanyahu to take measures which allow him to preserve his position, among which the early declaration of the elections, aiming at preventing Olmert from gaining time to convince the Israelis. The Israeli PM is also willing to propose a one million dollar raise to the military budget.
