Baroud to LBCI: Agreement must be reached over new electoral law
Former Interior Minister Ziad Baroud praised on Saturday the discussions on the electoral law that took place during Bkerke meeting on Friday, noting that they were perfectly conducted in an attempt to improve the Christian representation, “as a national effort, not sectarian”. He added that this matter is not only Bkerke’s responsibility, but also the responsibility of all political powers and constitutional institutions.

Baroud told Nharkom Said in a phone call, that the committee insisted on confirming the statement of the Maronite Bishops regarding the rejection of the 60s law, considering that it has flaws related to the representation and the application of the Constitution.

In this context, Baroud stressed the need to reach an agreement over an electoral law, because “the clock started moving towards the 60s law”, as he said.
