REPORT: How social networks dealt with the detention of Fidaa Itani

The Syrian revolution supporters and its opponents have objected the abduction of Lebanese journalist Fidaa Itani by Liwaa Asifat al-Chamal in Syria's Aazaz region.           

In this regard, positions showed on social networking pages.        

The most prominent position was on the page of the Local Coordinating Committees on Facebook.           

The committees mentioned that kidnappings and detentions performed by Battalions of the Free Syrian Army are unacceptable especially when these actions are performed against media professionals and journalists.         

Another statement was issued by Syrian intellectuals whereby they considered that it is shameful for the Syrian revolution to imitate the actions of the regime it's trying to topple.               

Also on Facebook, a page demanding the freedom of Fidaa Itani was launched.          

The page is similar to a petition that calls for Itani's freedom and condemns his detention.                

As for Twitter, positions rejecting Itani's abduction were many saying that these actions distort the objectives of the revolution.          

Some consider that his kidnapping does not fit in the "new Syria" opposition forces are aiming for, while others refuse this "act of injustice" calling for his release.             

The major comments were the ones questioning the democracy that such groups are calling for.              

One person posted a tweet asking if the Syrian opposition militants were detaining journalists that support them, what would be the case for those opposing them?
