Sheikh Zgheib: death of Abu Ibrahim does not affect Lebanese detainees

Sheikh Abbas Zgheib who is assigned by the Shiite Islamic Council to follow up on the case of the Lebanese abductees in Syria said on Tuesday that information confirms that "Abu Ibrahim" is in good health and did not die in clashes on the Syrian-Turkish borders as some media outlets stated.

In an interview with the National News Agency, Sheikh Zgheib said to the that the death of Abu Ibrahim, whether true or not, does not affect negotiations related to the 9 Lebanese detainees because the Turkish state is concerned with this file.

"The Turkish government is still responsible for the safety and security of the Lebanese detainees as well as their return back to their families," he concluded.
