UN expects arrival of 55 thousand refugees to Niger

According to UN expectations published on Friday regarding the military intervention in Northern Mali to oust Islamist militants, this intervention may result in the displacement of around 55 thousand refugees to the neighboring Niger which is currently hosting 62 thousand refugees.

The UN office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that humanitarian workers and partners worked together on the base of military intervention scenario and agreed to receive 55 thousand new refugees.
