Qortbawi, Hassan Khalil: case of counterfeit medicine will not be forgotten

A meeting was held on Monday between Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi, Health Minister Ali Hassan Khalil and general prosecutor Hatem Madi to discuss the case of counterfeit medicine.

Qortbawi and Hassan Khalil stressed that this case will not be forgotten, noting that there are no political sides trying to interfere.

In his statement, Qortbawi declared that there will be no compromise or delay in this process.

For his part, Hassan Khalil called for preventing this case from being politicized; stressing that destroying these medicines is not a choice since the necessary techniques are unavailable in Lebanon.

Commenting on the fact that the depots were not closed, Hassan Khalil said that there are laws in this case that prevent the closure of the depots. “When a licensed pharmacist is proven to be involved with fraud, his license will be withdrawn and his depot will be closed,” the minister added.

In this context, Hassan Khalil reassured that these medicines did not reach hospitals and clinics.
