Aoun: A new gvt is possible but cannot be impartial

"Sidonians are against manifestations of Sheikh Ahmad Assir and wish to live in peace. The first step to resolving issues in Sidon is by enforcing the law and arresting all trespassers,” FPM leader MP Michel Aoun said following the weekly Change and Reform bloc meeting.

On the formation of a new government, Aoun said “a new cabinet is possible but must be agreed upon by all parties. Cabinet neutrality cannot be achieved.”

On Syria, Aoun said that so long as Syrian factions refuse dialogue, there will be no solution.

Locally Aoun said that the rights of Maronites in official positions are being “usurped” at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, calling on the Foreign Minister to tackle the issue in regards to official positions' appointments.

On a related note, Aoun called for the separation of Mount Lebanon’s Chambers of Industry, Agriculture and Commerce from the Beirut Chamber.

Speaking of tourism, Aoun said that the Minister of tourism has nothing to do with the low tourism influx into Lebanon. “Economy should be depoliticized,” he said.

Earlier today, Aoun visited President Sleiman at Baabda Palace where he stressed that the government will not resign under pressure. For more on this story, click here.
