EDL committee: We will respond to any violation of the signed agreement

The Committee of the EDL Contract Workers and Collectors stressed on Monday that it will not stand idly by as violations affecting its main cause continue. The committee noted that should things remain as such, the committee would consider its statement as a beginning of a new wave of peaceful movements.

The committee added that several matters require explanation from those in charge of the agreement reached, pointing that since the suspension of their movements over four months ago, the committee has since remained keen on implementing all the agreement’s items.

EDL contract workers had been protesting for months calling on the government to employ them as full-time staff and to pay their salaries. Their protests have included shutting the gates of EDL headquarters in Beirut and disrupting normal work at the state-run company.
