REPORT: Families of Talkalakh victims take to the streets again

The families of the victims of Talkalakh ambush staged a sit-in on Thursday and blocked the road between Tripoli and Syria for half an hour, holding the Lebanese government responsible for the delay in resolving their issue.           

The third and last batch of bodies which was supposed to arrive to Lebanon last Monday and Tuesday was not delivered.            

The sit-in was removed few minutes after reading the statement, and receiving promises that the bodies will arrive next Monday. However, the protesters threatened that in case the promises were not fulfilled, they will take to the streets again next Monday.              

On the 30th of November 2012, reports emerged saying that a number of Lebanese nationals died in a Syrian ambush in the bordering town of Talkalakh.                 

At least 14 Lebanese and Palestinian gunmen from north Lebanon were reportedly killed, with three wounded and detained in the ambush. Syrian state television aired graphic video of the dead men, riddled with gunshot wounds and lying in the grass.
