Families of Lebanese detainees in Syria's Aazaz reopened Hazmieh's road after blocking it on both sides in protest seemingly since security forces did not allow them to head toward the Presidential palace. The relatives held banners calling for the release of the abductees and assured that they will be raising claims before the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Europe against the Turkish state. For his part, the released Awad Ibrahim considered that the presidency 'has fallen short' on the issue of the detainees since Abou Ibrahim said that he closed this matter. Ibrahim asked the president to exert pressures on countries that are supporting the opposition in order to release the abductees. It is worth noting that negotiations are underway between the presidential guards and the relatives in order to re-open the road. According to sources, President Sleiman called for forming a delegation to head to the presidential palace, but his request was not accepted since the relatives set a condition that they would all want to meet with him. The relatives of the abductees began their demonstrations on Sunday when held a sit-in outside the Turkish embassy in Rabiyeh to call for the release of their loved ones. Eleven Lebanese pilgrims were kidnapped on their way back from Iran by insurgents hoping to use them for a prisoner swap on the 20th of May. Only two have so far been released.
